Once upon a time ... when I resided close to ELMIRA, NY, I had a very reasonable electricity bill due to the fact that it was generated by water power. Mostly.

Today I learned, however, that what I thought to be economically priced was - in reality - quite expensive:

  • Old domestic appliances,
  • insufficient insulation,
  • through draft due to single-glazed, sliding windows.
Why so?
Because I had compared it to the prices of energy in Europe, especially in Germany. And these were a lot higher than in the U.S.A.

Low income households are trapped for the afore mentioned reasons. It's time to force the landlords to invest in energy-saving technology & no longer heap the cost of wasted electricity on the shoulders of poor tenants.
